Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Family Vision Care San Diego a proud provider of vision care products and services in San Diego.


Dr. Melanie Langford, O.D.

is licensed in the treatment and management of ocular disease with therapeutic pharmaceutical agents, primary open angle glaucoma, and lacrimal irrigation and dilation. Dr. Langford practices full scope optometry and she enjoys working with patients of all ages, especially children. She also specializes in the fitting of CRT lenses for myopia control and scleral contact lenses for various eye diseases. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outside with her husband Matt, 2 children, Jack and Eloise, and her dogs, Leo and Alvin.

Dr. Matthew S. Langford, O.D.

Dr. Matthew S. Langford received his Bachelors of Science in molecular and cellular developmental biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He then received his Doctorate in Optometric Medicine from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL. Dr. Langford completed his internships at the Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago, the Gordon Weiss Vision Institute in La Jolla, and the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. He is board-certified in treating ocular disease with therapeutic pharmaceutical agents (TPA), primary open-angle glaucoma, and lacrimal irrigation and dilation.

Dr. Langford practices full-scope optometric medicine and emphasizes early detection of ocular diseases such as cataracts, diabetes, glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, and macular degeneration. He also co-manages refractive surgery (like LASIK) and fits all types of contact lenses, including specialty contact lenses for keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, post-surgical corneas, and other corneal diseases. Dr. Langford is also certified for corneal refractive therapy (CRT), a non-surgical approach to vision correction comparable to LASIK.

He is also a first-degree black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do, enjoys playing the guitar, and running with his Labradoodle named Leo.


Dr. Gary Sneag, O.D., F.C.O.V.D

has practiced optometry since 1977 and has lectured and presented at various conferences for several years. He specializes in the field of vision therapy and enjoys the challenges of fitting all kinds of contact lenses, diagnosing and treating disease, as well as prescribing low vision aids for visually impaired patients. He also enjoys managing his patients for refractive surgery.

Lori – Office Manager

Lori is a San Diego native. She is our Office Manager and has been with us for over 25 years. When she is out of the office she enjoys spending time with her husband, Miki, daughter, Salem, and twin sister, Lisa. She also loves reading and is passionate about yoga.


Tori – Front Office

Tori has been with Family Vision Care for over 5 years, first as a pretesting technician and now as a front office scheduler. She is a UC Santa Barbara graduate, Clairemont native, and the office crazy cat lady. In her spare time she enjoys watching cartoons with her fiance and searching for the perfect carnitas taco.


Sarina – Front Office

Sarina was born and raised in Clairemont. She started coming to our office for Vision Therapy in 2006 and shortly after became a patient of Dr. Langford. She loves to spend her weekends with her family and is on the constant hunt for the perfect margarita pairing to Tori’s carnitas taco. Fun fact: Sarina and Tori have been best friends since kindergarten.


Rina – Dispensing Optician

Rina joined our office in 2010 and brings with her over 18 years of experience. She manages our frame inventory and can easily pick out the ideal frame for our patients. During her free time, she loves watching basketball/football, hiking and trying new restaurants with her husband Craig.


Javier – ABO Certified Optician

Javier is an American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certified optician and possesses over 19 years of experience in the optical field. He assists in laboratory production and with frame selections. On his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and watching his son play baseball.


Sarah – ABO Certified Optician

Sarah is an American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certified optician and has been in the optical field for over 11 years. She is our care coordinator for refractive surgeries and is our social media manager. As a transplant from Texas, she enjoys exploring Pacific Beach and all the landmarks of San Diego.


Cristene – ABO Certified Optician

Cristene is an American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certified optician. She has a B.S. in Health Science and has been working in optical for over 6 years. In her free time she loves baking and exploring San Diego with her family.


Christina – Vision Therapist

A San Diego native, Clairemont has been Christina’s home for the last 13 years. Wife and Mother of two boys her weekends are spent with her family usually on a baseball or soccer field. Christina’s passion is to empower patients in reaching their fullest potential. She has a strong belief that with understanding, patience and a positive mindset, anything can be accomplished.


Mary – Vision Therapist

Mary started working as a vision therapist for Family Vision Care in 2004. She loves working with children and their families through the vision therapy program! Mary has a B.S. in Psychology and experience working with children of all ages. Outside of the office, Mary stays busy as a mother of two girls, ages 5 and 1.


Student Interns

Student Interns from UCSD volunteer in our office to help them decide if optometry is the right profession for them. The interns help the office staff in a variety of ways and often sit in with the doctors during eye examinations and vision therapy sessions.
